Sports Illustrated Jason Burke again

Sports Illustrated Jason Burke is at it once again. He starts his report on the A's relocation to Las Vegas with known facts, but then goes off the rails. The A's have projected construction to start Q2, which Jason interprets as April 1. He says construction cannot start on April 1 making it impossible to follow the construction timeline to open in 2028 without increased costs because of overtime. That could also move the start to 2029. Increased costs could scuttle the whole thing. Then he notes deposits will start for the priority list for tickets. He says that is either a marketing gimmick, or a way to get some quick cash. He also suggests using his style of "logic" that it could be part of a scheme somehow for the team to back out of Las Vegas.

I can't imagine he would still report on the A's once they move to Las Vegas, but with the media's reputation for accuracy and lack of bias, who knows.

Firstly, thanks for all that you have done to make this site work. As someone who doesn't have a Facebook account (and isn't terribly interested in getting one), I very much appreciate what you have done relative to this unique, stand-alone website. Kudos, sir.

Secondly, thank you for calling out this Jason "Carter" Burke character. Given that Sports Illustrated recently got caught posting stories written by fake authors that were A.I.-generated, I had come to believe that Burke was an A.I. created by some S.I.O.-sympathetic editor at the publication. However, Burke is, indeed, a real person, who is totally willing to repeatedly beclown himself for social media clout.

Much like Broseph Brazilian and Cassie Prattle, I've gotten to the point where I ignore Burke -- because I don't want his bosses at S.I. to see that he's generating even puny traffic to their site and decide to extend his dumb contract into the future. Once the Athletics complete their relocation to Vegas, S.I. is gonna have to rip off the proverbial band-aid and kick Burke to the curb. (At that point, another place that will have to be cleaned-up is Vox Media's Athletics' Nation site, which was chock full of mindlessly pro-Oakland/anti-Vegas messaging the last time I checked it out.)

Thanks very much for your comments and support. This thread describes my view of forums versus other places like Facebook.

I am involved with Facebook and X and am trying to inform others, but getting people to change habits is difficult. What I have been doing and you're helping is to seed the site with different topics hoping to entice others to join. It takes a while. I do support the YouTube videos by LockedOnA's and recommend him for accurate, honest discussion. He created an account here and I hope will post more once action picks up. Again, thanks very much.

I totally understand what you're saying. And I really appreciate the efforts of you and your comrades on Twitter, which is infested with S.I.O. lunacy. Booney has been doing a great job since he took over that YouTube channel, especially considering some of the dopes that served as its prior hosts (e.g. the aforementioned Jason "Carter" Burke).
