MGM Resorts CEO Bill Hornbuckle said Wednesday he met with representatives of the Oakland A’s, including team owner John Fisher, to learn more about the casino operator’s potential new neighbor. Fisher, he said, brought along new renderings of the proposed $1.5 billion, 33,000-seat stadium planned for 9 acres on the 35-acre site that houses the Tropicana Las Vegas. "They showed me the design, which was spectacular, I might add,” Hornbuckle said on MGM’s third-quarter earning conference call. He noted the 5,000-room MGM Grand Las Vegas sits directly across from the stadium and the company would remodel the 30-year-old resort’s main entrance to connect with the future ballpark. "I think you'll see us invest there,” he said. “We've already connected our architect with their [architect] to kind of talk about all of that." Five of MGM’s resorts totaling more than 13,000 rooms are located directly across from the Tropicana site. thenevadaindependent.com/field-notes/howard-stutz/mgm-ceo-as-stadium-renderings-are-spectacular
