Why Schools Over Stadiums remains irrelevant
To fund, SB1 requires 3 agreements be signed between the A's and the Stadium Authority:
"Section 22 of this bill requires the Stadium Authority to negotiate and enter into a development agreement, lease agreement and non-relocation agreement with respect to the Major League Baseball stadium project if the Board of Directors determines that a Major League Baseball team has committed to locate or relocate within the sports and entertainment improvement district."
Regarding the Schools over Stadiums PAC, Steve Hill, LVCVA CEO stated 7/11/2023:
“It’s hard to get that on the ballot, but that’s a different subject,” Hill said. “But we will be done with our contract prior to that vote being taken. That contract would be in place based on the law (SB1) that is currently valid. … So if someone else looks to build a baseball park in the future, they may or may not be able to do that, but we have a law that allows us to go enter into a contract in order to do that, and that’s what we plan to do.”

Progress is being made on the agreements. Steve Hill stated 1/18/2024:
"We anticipate bringing back the community benefits agreement, the lease agreement and potentially the first draft of the non-relocation agreement at our next board meeting … The development agreement will not be introduced at our next board meeting.”

While the development agreement will lag the others, it is most logical it will be completed within the coming months, well before any November 2024 vote, if this PAC were able to the their initiative on the ballot. Perhaps this is the reason the major players, including GLPI and Bally's are moving ahead, ignoring this California funded PAC. And for those Californians who contribute, that will have as much impact as their Sell t-shirts.
